Orlando is in Orange County Central Florida. It is situated in a region dotted by lakes, approximately 60 miles northwest of Melbourne and 85 miles northeast of Tampa. The city is the focus for one of the state’s most populated metropolitan areas. Orlando is known for being the “city beautiful”, and its world-famous theme parks, diverse neighborhoods and expanding entertainment scene. Chapter Background
The Central Florida PCNA Chapter is established as a platform for nurses in various roles with interest in serving as leaders to colleagues, other healthcare professionals and the community, in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases . Collectively, we work together on events and activities to impart educational information regarding cardiovascular diseases. We aim to encourage engagement in our quest to focus on prevention. We host free educational events each fall and spring. Registered Nurses and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses will be afforded continuing education hours for their attendance, but all healthcare professionals are welcome to attend.
You do not need to be a member to attend local chapter events and meetings. However, we enthusiastically welcome new members. Membership to our chapter is open to all healthcare professionals with interest in cardiovascular care and prevention. Please join us at our future events. Also, you may consider being a PCNA member.
Mary Janette Sending, MSN, APRN-CNS, CCNS, PCCN, FPCNA founder and Chapter Leader of the Central Florida Chapter has embraced learning and growing with the healthcare team for the past 35 years. Her experience in cardiovascular nursing in various roles, solidified her foundation as a clinician, a formal and informal leader, a learning facilitator and an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse-Clinical Nurse Specialist. As an APRN- CNS, Janette is uniquely qualified to use advanced knowledge, clinical inquiry, innovation, change management and critical thinking to lead clinical practice, help advance the practice of nursing, and serve as an organizational connector, using evidence and collaboration to move projects forward that significantly impact patient and system outcomes. These experiences enhanced her interest to focus not only on cardiovascular disease symptom and disease management but prevention. Since 2022 she has been a PCNA Project Development and Review Committee member and established the Central Florida Chapter in 2024.
